Why “AAA Locksmith” is the Best Movie Title Ever

Laugh if you want, but when you are picking a title for your movie, try to choose one that starts with the letter “A” or another letter close to the beginning of the alphabet. When people are flipping through pages and pages of movie titles, looking for something to watch, chances are that they are going to lose interest and just pick something right around the time they get to Babe 2: Pig in the City. In this modern age of instant gratification, the average attention span is shorter than Zelda Rubinstein in flats. By choosing a title that starts with A or B, you’ll be sure that someone at least sees your title before he passes it up and decides to watch something else.

At Troma, we have completely ignored this tip, and most of our movies start with “T” or other various letters at the end of the alphabet. Consequently, we don’t make any money.

Troma titles:
The Toxic Avenger
Troma’s War
Tromeo and Juliet
Terror Firmer
Tales from the Crapper

I recently announced to the Troma staff that we will be changing the title of The Toxic Avenger 5: Toxic Twins to AAA Locksmith . They appreciated the effort, I think, but they were less than enthusiastic.

What are some of your tips for the best damn movie title ever?

Putting “Wedding” in the title seems to work. Hollywood seems to believe the word “Mars” is cursed. To wit:

Mars Needs Moms
Mission to Mars
Mars Attacks
